A footnote to the story:

Several months after Chaplin was buried, two crooks dug him up and stole his remains. They buried him in a cornfield and then demanded a reward of $600,000 from Chaplin's widow who refused to pay. Short version is that the police captured two machanics and they took them to the casket and body. Chaplin was reburied in a cement grave and the two crooks were sent to prison.

John Dillinger ~

American gangster

John Herbert Dillinger was an American gangster in the Great Depression-era United States. He operated with a group of men known as the "Dillinger Gang" or "The Terror Gang" which was accused of robbing 24 banks and four police stations, among other crimes. Dillinger escaped from jail twice.
